Apple Inc. is one of the most recognizable brands in today's technology-driven market. Naturally, cybercriminals will take advantage of the brand in carrying out their malicious activities.

TrendLabs researchers were alerted of spammed messages posing as Apple AppStore email notifications. The message informs the recipient of a supposed order cancellation. More information on the order details are supposedly provided via a link. Once recipients click on the embedded link, however, they are redirected to an online drugstore site instead. This scam appears to be similar to another scam we reported last year, which also poses as an email from theApple AppStore.

Users must remain cautious of such messages, especially in light of reports of a spam run that leverages the upcoming release of theiPhone 5.
